Oh crud, forgot about this among a trip to China (the great firewall). I guess 2 months made me forget about it.
So...
Does anyone still want this to be a thing?
If so, I need help with art (I'm really bad at art and tied up by school), but I can code better now.
I'm really sorry about forgetting about this, guys

never read the story but this mod does look interesting.

Also I guess I can help in art? DO not count on me immediately helping becasue I have to make quite a lot of weapons in a short time as we speak as well as go fix up and make new enemy ships for captains edition.

The reason I can help is well... I am making a mod overhaul for the Engi already- doing FTL's lore perspective on the engi and puts you in the Engi Brigade- which is the segment of the Galactic Federations final fleet which is mainly Engi. So as you can see I will be making lots of Engi ships and stuff... so yea . I can lend some art resources over. I got nothing at the moment but I do not have a problem in trying to make more soon.

If you could, that'd be great.
I think I asked you for permission to use some of your engi ship art assets a while ago... It would explain some the art in my modding folder on my computer (I never made those assets).

Yea, right now I am going to scrap the early Engi ship designs I made and will make new ones soon which I already designed two of them to a satisfactory level on a piece of paper with pencil.

However right at this very instant I am making quite a bit of weapons. so if any of them are required just go ahead- make sure to give me credits for those though.

I'm considering abandoning the project.
I think I was too ambitious when I first took on this project (having little experience coding, no XML experience, and being terrible at art).
Since I last worked on this mod, one year has passed, in which time lots has happened.
I began high school, competed in multiple robotics tournaments, built a new computer, and went on school trips.
Among this, I have only played FTL 3-4 times. :(

As of now, I've moved on to other games, improved my coding (not my art), and I'm as busy as ever. Usually I get 30 min - 2h of free time daily, which I spend developing code for my school robotics team.

I feel that if I do create this mod, it will not have as much enthusiasm as before from me.

Unless there's an overwhelming amount of want for this mod, I'm abandoning it in one week from now.

TL;DR: abandoning in one week unless tons of people want it

Before things get abandoned- how much progress have you done?

I to suck at the digital of arts- never touched coding in my life- and it took me 5 years ago to learn the difference between a folder and a file.
however I got ambitious with the EB mod and started going for it- as I was making it I looked at passed examples. Foundation of the Federation was a huge inspiration BUT it ended kinda short and all those delicious quests he has made never got released- He made them but never got released- all that was released was a few weapons and a few player ships (type A and B for each 9)

So I chopped my mod up into nice segments that can be released individuley- and recently chopped those up as well.

instead of other overhauls out there that may or may not have steady progress but rarely release anything. I chopped it up into small packages with not the full continent but some of it. Like captains edition. It also allows me to test individual pieces faster. This is visible mainly in the Weapon packs I've been releasing which received quite positive income and I am already doing incremental changes. Soon I will release some ships for the mod using said weapons (making it easier as now I got a concrete balanced weapon to use instead of change weapon, change ship, change weapon again, change ship, etc)
I will soon practice coding in events which I would first release as an "easter egg" quest pack- adding a few quests related to other mods, sci fi sources, and more. Ranging from running into an unknown automated ship launching explosive incendiary grenades and teleporting them in to A small shuttle from a large Federation Assault cruiser that got it's reactor critically damaged from an Ion storm after a lanius attack (yes this is reference to the FTL multiplayer RP and the potential cruiser). Probably do a Separate Easter egg event pack first based on the events of FTL Kestrels Adventures. (cool animated series, still going)

Etc you get the point. I would love to see this thing through but I wouldn't mind if it was stopped either as long as the resources are left open for people to continue (if you want that to occur) or to release it as a simple quest addition mod.
