Altering distributions of random events?

Postby mcandre » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:11 pm

I like how the game Don't Starve lets users tweak the distributions of lots of different kinds of random events. Users can make the game harder, easier, or just weirder, by changing the drop rates of different game elements.

Could we do the same for FTL, allowing users to customize high/low-powered weapon drops, new crew members, augmentations, and enemy ship encounters?

The only way would be to make a few mods, with different events, but few people would want to do that.

You're practically daring said people to come out and play.

No, he's saying it'd be a HUGE pain to do. I've thought about it but when I looked into it, the task was daunting enough to turn me away.

Yes, I completely agree with this. I looked into doing this with an overhaul once, and even began to code some of it. Not fun. Really not fun.
