Its supposed to be a "zoltan laser" a really weak basic laser that requires no power. any suggestions for a design change? (yes, i know its a reskinned basic laser)


Could you make it a power surge weapon that would actually increase the power to a system for a few seconds, helping any system not fully powered, but damaging and/or ionizing a system that is fully powered and make it aim-able at both your own ship and the enemy ship? That way you could use it like the healing bomb, where it could help you or accidently help your enemy (especially if you don't have the fully upgraded sensors), but in a electrical way.

Also, would it be possible to make a ship that is a group of 5-6 free floating pods that are connected by a magnetic field (or whatever)? The ship could have a bonus chance to dodge, but only 1/2 or 2/3 health for balance. Also, it would look really cool, kind of like a squadron of Tie-Fighters.

P.S. I just joined this today after buying the game 2 days ago after seeing Vanguard of Valor play it, so if either of those things already exist, I would really appreciate anyone that can help me find them.

sorry, overcharging systems is impossible, it's hardcoded. It is possible to make a weapon that repairs system damage though. as for a bunch of ships together, it is possible, although some of the aspects would be slightly strange (if you hit the shields on one fighter, it would disable shields for all the fighters). You should check out the escort duty mod, it has a similar concept.

You are a very positive person, aren't you?

I have an idea: the special weapon you get from mini bosses will be a race specific weapon (e.g. a zoltan mini boss gives you some sort of zoltan weapon). These weapons aren't necessarily ultra powerful, but they do something specific to they're race (zoltan weapon wouldn't need energy, and the engi weapon would repair systems). Also, they could sell for alot more than normal weapons (80-100 scrap).

edit: also, could you try and find another sprite artist to help me out with ships? I don't have the time to create lots of ships and weapons for a project this size.

Some sort of slug weapon? meh, it looks cool. I'm gonna take a break from making weapons. I'm going back to ship creation. is anyone good at making weapon glow effects? i'm horrible at it.

I am not actually coding the weapons, (i'm horrible at it) it will be up to english narwhale to decide which is going to be in the mod.

Hey all, I just downloaded Infinite Space (version .5.2, I think) not too long ago and have been thoroughly enjoying it, my only problem is that sometimes the game will just completely exit for no reason at all, causing me to lose my progress. As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating.

After some searching, I found version .5.3, and also the one on the English_Narwhal's site, which was apparently updated about 8 weeks ago. So I patched it, hoping to get rid of that pesky bug, and now whenever I click start game after selecting a ship the whole thing just freezes. It still plays music, but I have to actually go to the task manager to terminate the program.

I've already tried deleting and reinstalling the game through Steam and made sure that an unmodified/unpatched version still ran on my machine; it did. Tried re-patching but to no success. Can't even play the "vanilla" version without uninstalling/reinstalling again, it seems like this new Infinite Space version permanently overwrites the normal version.

Sorry for the giant wall of text, but has anyone else had this problem? Did you fix it?
