[MOD][BETA] Universal Hull Bars

Greetings! :mrgreen: For my first mod, I wanted to introduce a new health bar mod; with the upcoming Superluminal 2 ship editor coming up, I've realised that I would need to make some graphics and edits in order to integrate things that exceed the standard limits. One of those limits, is the hull health bar, that measures health by a default of 30.

Introducing the Universal Health Bar. :mrgreen:

This comes in two flavors; a thin bar, and a thick bar. Both share similar modifications:

- The bars are contiguous, thus, regardless of the ship's maximum health, this will work well with them.
- Both show 25%, 50%, and 75% on easy to see reference points, which should make tracking your health easy.
- Both have grey backgrounds, which allows you to see the percentages while health is lost.
- Both will flash white with red percentages when an alert activates.

I hope this are useful, and flashy for those wanting to have something different for your health bars. :)

Nice mod, I for some reason do not like the font for some reason, idk. But it is a good mod none the less and planning on adding it to my overhaul I think, or potentially do my own version once I learn how.

Fonts are super hard to do right, I can attest to that...

You know that thicker hull bar actually looks like some of the older pre-alpha versions of the FTL UI the developers were working on. Wish I had a screenshot to show you what I was talking about.

I like the grey outline in the back too that replaces the transparency, nice shading.

One possibility could be extracting the FTL font from the gamefiles. Or use this one, its pretty close to the FTL original. ;)

So the Kestrel had stripes and rebels had a different fashion sense and even then the hull bar doesn't look different to current? ooookay then....

seeing how it was like this in alpha.... I find it funny that you know of a time before then :lol:

Thanks for the compliments and feedback. :) I'm glad to hear that a lot of you will use it in your mods. :mrgreen:

As for the fonts, Russian Rockman hit it square on the head; yes, I did try to use the game's fonts, but when I used them in Photoshop, they failed to render properly. I'll give it another try, by copying some pre-existing numbers from the cursor files, to see if I can adjust it for you all. :)

I'll also add here that I almost finished a different style of shield bars, as well as making icons for weapons 5-8, and for artillery upgraded to levels 5 (10 secs) or 6 (instant). I'll be making separate posts for them. But in the meantime, I'll go ahead and perfect this UI mod for you.

Also, on the subject of this mod, did you guys want any different styles? The first two are nice and fit the theme, though I can always modify it to fit. It was actually fairly simple to pull off, thankfully.

Maybe a Hull Bar with 0% - 20% - 40% - 60% - 80% - 100%?

I actually like the striped Kestrel. It matches the Federation Cruiser. Yeah I was taking Waaaay back. Guess I'm officially nerdier than you. :ugeek:
