I definitely tried out a lot getting this to work when attempting to implement hyper space events at starting beacons. Hyperspace events? Damn, that would have been nice. I'll trust you that changing backgrounds probably doesn't work. :sad: Everything you said about the radiation event makes sense....

Just an idea, but perhaps the Zoltan surrender options could be redone in this manner... In vanilla FTL you would look at surrender options and if you didn't like them you would reject the offer and brutally murder your opponent. Usually then you would get something you liked better, but occasionall...

Also: This whole scenario is pretty rare. Which, I admit, does not make it obvious to the player that the radiation event can be so deadly. But the player can definitely gather that running out of fuel is lethal during other situations in CE. This particular scenario is just as rare as the stalemat...

That's a very interesting predicament you're in there with the Radiation field. Would like to say there should be a way out of that without fuel, but when I think about it the only way you could get out of there is if you jumped because the radiation would kill you in minutes. One question though......

As I said, I'm not sure the reverse ion works reliably on ionised systems: I think that if you shoot it at them and the cooldown-clock is made to change its revolution, the remaining revolutions counter won't go down, meaning it will have actuaolly increased its cooldown time. I'd love to see some new kinds of weapons like Plasma weapons, or electric beams/lasers, a freeze or microwave ray, etc... :P A question about the chaff launcher (?) the one that is supposed to confuse defense drones. If it fires really fast wont it have a high chance of shooting down combat drones ...

Just a thought, this would involve a lot of work, but would it be possible to make certain factions more hostile or peaceful towards you when playing as a certain faction. Like if you were playing as a Mantis ship maybe the nice and peaceful Engi would attack you, or if you were a Rock ship the Rock...
