I booted up Windows 10 in a VM and ran some tests. It worked... sort of.
Just backdate for now and wait for a more stable release.
If you weren't running it in compatibility mode, I'd recommend trying that before backdating.

It definitelly seems to be connected with memory. The clean game takes 791MB RAM, whereas with the very basic CE mod set activated it takes 1709MB right after pressing the START button. It runs in the 32bit mode so I guess I cannot increase its memory resources any more. EDIT 19:16: I just managed ...

Distraction buoys give you up to 7 extra beacons (as it works on the last sector). I think the Last Stand runs on its own timer and is unaffected by events involving fleet delays/acceleration. The Hyperwave Caster would break a lot of the difficulty of CE-Infinite, by allowing you to spawn a store (and thus repair all of your acquired damage). ...not that I mind, necessarily, because CE infinite is a huge bitch, but.
